Hospice with Heart

In 2004, two registered Nurses, graduates of Methodist and Jennie Edmundson Schools of Nursing, identified the lack of community-based services for hospice patients in the Council Bluffs and surrounding rural areas. Hospice With Heart was founded, and through its team in Council Bluffs, it offers hospice care to individuals in their homes in a six-county area.

In 2014, Hospice With Heart sought to affiliate itself with a well-established, like-minded hospice provider which shared its values and commitment to providing community-based, non-profit care. In October 2014, Hospice With Heart became a program of HCI Hospice Care Services, one of the oldest and largest non-profit hospice care providers in Iowa. The Hospice With Heart team remains locally staffed and continues its legacy of non-profit, mission-based care.

Hospice with Heart believes that all individuals with life limiting illnesses deserve quality and compassionate care. The staff of Hospice with Heart is highly trained to meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Update, March 2017:  The Hospice With Heart Hospice House, located in Glenwood, Ia., was closed in March 2017.  Hospice With Heart continues to provide home-based hospice care to area residents in six southwest Iowa counties.
