Pain Management – A Palliative Approach
Provides health care professionals with current information on recognizing and assessing pain in patients, and reviews the hospice philosophy of pain control.
- Define pain, and describe common sites where people experience pain
- Identify principles of pain management including medications for specific types of pain
- Describe the PAINAD scale and its use in people with dementia
- Identify non-pharmacological interventions for pain management
Certificates of attendance will be provided for health care professionals who attend the entire program.
In accordance with the Iowa Board of Nursing, this program may be offered for 0.1 CEUs for nurses.
This program is appropriate for continued education. For Iowa licensed health care professionals, it is up to the discretion of the licensee to choose relevant programs.
