Meeting the Care Needs of the Dying

The process of dying leads to many changes for a dying person. These changes require interventions aimed at providing physical comfort, social and psychosocial support, and spiritual care.

  • Identify the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the dying and their families
  • Discuss the communication needs of dying persons and their families
  • Describe how hospice care is provided and coordinated for people with a limited life expectancy
  • Examine the dying process and interventions that support clients and family members

Accreditation

Certificates of attendance will be provided for health care professionals who attend the entire program.

In accordance with the Iowa Board of Nursing, this program may be offered for 0.1 CEUs for nurses.

This program is appropriate for continued education. For Iowa licensed health care professionals, it is up to the discretion of the licensee to choose relevant programs.
