Cultural Considerations in End-of-Life Care

Discusses perspectives, experiences and resources to assist in the awareness of cultural differences in the delivery of patient care as well as various, culturally based rituals related to end of life, death and grief.

  • Become familiar with the definitions and language of culture
  • Identify requirements for culturally competent health care workers
  • Define what makes up cultural identity and its importance for care at end of life
  • Recognize the diverse cultural approaches to end of life, death rituals and expressions of grief

Accreditation

Certificates of attendance will be provided for health care professionals who attend the entire program.

In accordance with the Iowa Board of Nursing, this program may be offered for 0.1 CEUs for nurses.

This program is appropriate for continued education. For Iowa licensed health care professionals, it is up to the discretion of the licensee to choose relevant programs.
